Cate's 2 Year Update

We took Miss Cate to the doctor for her 2 year check up this week. She is growing and hitting all her milestones very well. She's 37 in tall (97%) and 30 pounds (84%). I was surprised to see that she only a half in shorter and 12 ounces lighter than Cole at this age. She is or is almost as tall as a lot of 3 or older 2 year olds.
She is wearing size 2T clothes and a few 3T (which is what we'll buy for the summer). She's still in a size 5 diaper, but will soon go up a size there too. She is about a size 7 in shoes, but can wear some 6's still. We are basically trying to make all the winter clothes last as long as we can and make it until April (or whenever it starts to get warm)!

Cate is a good, routine sleeper. She naps about 2 hours a day, sometimes longer when we don't have to pick Cole up at school. She usually goes to bed around 7:30 PM and will sleep until 7:30 AM, or close to it. She's still sleeping in her crib, but will soon be moving to the bottom bunk in Cole's room. She sleeps with her lovey and blanket (aka blanklet) every night.
This was Cate the day we were setting up the bunk beds.

She is a talker and a singer these days! Most of that is thanks to Cole, who she copies in every way. She cracks us up every day with what she says and the way she says it with her little girl voice. Some of her favorite shows are Doc McStuffins, Pepa Pig, Little Einsteins, or whatever Cole is watching. We took her to see her first movie a few weekends ago and saw The Good Dinosaur. She liked watching the movie, but didn't stay in her seat the whole time.
She loves music and dancing. She learned some of the songs Cole did for his Christmas program and loves the "color songs" that he's learned at preschool.
She likes puzzles, Little People, baby dolls/stuffed animals, music toys, books, her doctor bag toys or whatever Cole is playing, superheroes, etc.
Her personality is really showing through these days. She can be super sweet and lovey one minute and turn around a be feisty the next minute. She has no problem telling us what she wants and will cry or yell at Cole when he does something she doesn't like (which some days is all the time!). She will always end up doing what we ask her to do and will chill out when we finally say enough, but she will try to put up a fight. And she will turn around a tell you she loves you the next minute!
She hasn't shown any interest in potty training just yet, and we will definitely wait until she's ready with the new baby coming soon. It'll be a lot of changes for her. We are going to try our best not to make her feel left out, but I have a feeling she's going to be great at the big sister role! We love our sweet Cate...Happy Birthday!!!!

Baby Girl Shower

The same weekend we had Cate's birthday party, we took advantage of my Mom being in town and had a baby shower too!  Two girls from our church group hosted and it ended up being all girls from our group that could make it.
It was kind of nice that way because everyone already knew each other and we just sat around and talked a bunch.  My Mom got to meet all the girls too.
There were a lot of yummy brunch foods and cute decorations!
We got lots of diapers and wipes and a few outfits which was just what we needed. The third time around, we really have all the gear!  We are set on diapers now for awhile!

Celebrating Cate

We wanted to make sure Cate had a fun day on her actual birthday (Monday)!  Cole was off of school, so I took both of them to the Children's Museum for some play time.
They had a great time and we got there early to be sure we beat the crowds.
They always find something different and fun to do!  Cole started doing somersaults down the big tape slide on this trip!

Then we made a stop at Merritt's Bakery for a birthday treat.
Cate picked a snowflake frosted cookie and Cole picked a Batman cupcake.

After Tony got home from work, we took Cate out to dinner at Hideaway for pizza (one of her favorites). Then we went toTarget to let her pick out a toy. She chose a Princess Sophia radio that plays music and has a microphone for singing. And it's the greatest thing ever for her!  She loves it and knows the words of one of the songs already!
We got her the Sophia pjs which made the performance!

Until she put on the Sophia sunglasses too!
Just the cutest 2 year old ever!!

Happy Birthday to Cate!

Today is Cate's Birthday!! We celebrated with a little party on Saturday at our house.
We had mostly family and a few friends and kids over. It was the perfect size for a two year old party...enough that she enjoyed it, but not too much where it was a lot of work for us! We had a few snacks and pizza for an early dinner.
The kids played for awhile and we opened gifts. Every kid wants to "help" with that, but they did a good job being patient and letting her open as best as she could.
The older boys supervising!
Cate wanted to have a princess party, although she's just semi-into the princess thing. She picked Sophia plates, and we were able to find a Sophia shirt and balloons. The cake was harder to find, so we ended up with just a Disney princess one that she loved too!
She did the little kid thing of just looking around wondering what's going on when everyone started singing to her.
Cole gave his assistance in blowing out the candles too.
Nina and Pop Pop came from Texas for the birthday bash!
We have done a few things today to celebrate with her and will have to do a two year update after she has her check up next week! Birthday season in the Wysocki House has begun!

Happy New Year!

We spent our New Years Eve at home this year with a little party of our own! We picked up some dinner to eat at home since the Sooners were on during dinner time. Tony and I picked up some party hats and "blow sticks", as Cate calls them, to surprise Cole and Cate with after bath. They were totally into all of it!
They had cookies and sparking apple juice for dessert after baths. They were not big fans of the sparkling juice though.
They did a New Years cheers with their other drinks!
No one stayed up until midnight or anything like that, but we had a good time! (Except Cate didn't love taking a picture with us!)

Christmas In Texas

We had a nice, relaxing Christmas in The Woodlands this year! We drove down on Tuesday before Christmas and made it before dinner. Poor Cate has had some trouble with car sickness, so that kind of put us behind a little bit. She had once incident, but seemed to feel better after she got sick and never did again. (We did end up calling her doctor and got a prescription for the drive home and it worked!) The kids did great on the drive down. They watched a few shows, but nothing crazy. They colored, slept, played with toys, or just chilled out.

On Wednesday, my mom and I took Cole and Cate to the Children's Museum. They love going there and playing with all the fun toys!
They especially loved the dress up this time!
That afternoon Tony and Cole got their haircut. Tony had promised Cole a trip to see the famous Ivis and get a hair cut like daddy's, so that's just what they did!
Tony kept sending me pictures because Cole looked like he was miserable and did not talk!
Cole loves his haircut though! It really did turn out just like Tony's, but a little longer. He looks like such a big boy!
While the boys were getting their haircuts, Cate helped Nina make frosting for Christmas cookies. She loved the snowman spatula and helping pick frosting colors.
After dinner, we frosted a few Christmas cookies. Cate was mostly into dumping sprinkles on hers while Cole actually took his time and decorated each cookie to his perfection. This was definitely Cole's first year of getting into the decorating part.
On Christmas Eve morning, we did a littler shopping at Market Street. The kids loved the big tree so much that neither one would stand still for a picture! Oh well!
We got dressed up for Christmas Eve church with the family. Cole and Cate did pretty well sitting in the normal service. Each year gets better and less antsy. Cate loved the music, so that helped.
These two were excited to finally open a present after seeing them under the tree for days!
Cole wrote his first note for Santa all by himself! It was so sweet to see him write on his own and pick out the treats for Santa and his reindeer.
Then came Christmas Day! Cole slept until 7 AM and he was able to wake everyone up and get them downstairs. We love their excitement and surprising them with toys they've had their eye on for awhile.
Stockings first!
Cole asked Santa for the Imaginext Batcave...and he delivered.
Cate asked Santa for Doc Mcstuffins toys. This one in particular was a gift from Cole though.
They both got a lot of fun toys, but it was a lot of opening since there were gifts from grandparents, aunts, us, and Santa and we had six adults and the two kids. The kids did a good job taking their time and played with a few things while they were waiting their turn.
We spent the rest of Christmas Day playing with new toys and hanging out with family. It was a relaxing day for sure. Cole and Cate were worn out and slept in until after 8 AM the next morning! They had to recover!

We really didn't do a whole lot over the weekend either. My Dad took Cole to hit golf balls (and an ice cream treat) on Saturday and Cole and Cate got into the hot tub. They wanted to get in pretty much every day and swim! Cole even got in the water when it wasn't heated...crazy! (It was an unusually warm Christmas, but still!)
On Monday, Cole, Cate, and I visited some friends and played at Chick-fil-a in the morning. It was fun to catch up with Leila, my old teaching partner, and Tori, who I taught with too but knew from high school swimming. Now none of us are working and we each have two kids. It was a wild time!

That evening we met my other good friend, Alyssa, and her husband and two kids for dinner at a Mexican restaurant. It was a short visit, but it was worth it to see them and catch up as much as we could. We could not get these three to look at the same time either!
We had some more family time on Tuesday before driving back home on Wednesday. We decided to leave kind of early and actually made it home around 3:30 in the afternoon. It was nice to get a little grocery shopping done and have dinner at home without rushing around. Cole was more restless on our drive home, but we made it with the bonus of a little snow still in our front yard for the kids! They were pretty bummed to see pictures of snow in Tulsa when we were in Texas. I'm sure we will have another snow for them this winter...maybe just not as much as last year.
We've had a few more days of our Christmas break to spend at home relaxing before it's back to work and school on Monday! I think everyone might actually be ready for that though.
