PLANES Fire & Resuce

Our little PLANES movie lover was pumped about the new movie coming out this summer!  Tony took Cole to see the movie in 3D on the Thursday night before the movie officially came out on Friday.
They got popcorn and a huge bag of fruit snacks that Cole had no problem finishing off!
Tony said he did great wearing the 3D glasses and was so into the movie.  They got there nice and early because Cole was really concerned about where they were going to sit.
I loved seeing him come home all excited to tell me about the movie. It was really cute. I also told him that I needed to take him to see the movie too so I could see it. I don't think he's going to turn that offer down!

Cate - 6 Months

We have made it to the half year mark with our sweet little Cate! In some ways, 6 months has flown by, but at the same time it's like she's always been with us. She just fit right into our family and is so laid back. She really just goes with the flow and has been on all kinds of outings with us. I don't think twice about taking her with us when I need to get Cole out and about to go to the zoo, play with other kids, run errands, etc.
Cate flew on an airplane for the first time this past month and went on her first vacation to Myrtle Beach, SC. She got to meet all of my extended family on my Dad's side for the first time. She has also been in the pool a few times this summer and seems to like it. She loves splashing around at bath time, so I'm not surprised.
Cate loves sitting up! She started to sit up on her own about a week before she turned 6 months. She thinks it's the coolest! She also loves the exersaucer and can spend a good amount of time in there "talking" and squealing at the little animals and toys all around it. She has gotten really good at rolling from her back to her stomach and does that often when she's laying down playing on her mat or a blanket. She's also started to take more of an interest in toys, especially ones that make noise. She also loves her little green Sophie teething toy. Cole is also a fun source of entertainment. He can get her to crack up with his noises or tickles.
She has started to test out some new sounds, which we love! We talk back and forth with her or watch her talk to herself or toys. It's fun to see her interacting so much!
Cate is wearing size 6-9 month or 6-12 month clothes still. She's also still in the size 3 diapers. I'll have to update her stats once we go to her appointment in August. She wears a little bow in her hair pretty much every day to keep her bangs out of her face.
Her schedule has been ready for a change, but most of the last month, she was on a 3 to 3.5 hour feeding schedule with 3 naps of about an hour and a half in length during the day. She has a little habit of waking up during the night expecting to nurse, so we've been trying to figure out how to deal with that. She doesn't wake up every night and the time of night varies, so it's been a little tricky to figure out the cause. But, we are moving to a 4 hour schedule starting this week and will see how that affects the night times. She started sleeping on her stomach during the past few weeks. She rolls over and moves herself all around her crib! She uses the slats in the crib to turn and scoot around. We have to keep an eye on that girl! Cate has also been eating one "meal", usually late afternoon, of baby food. Some of her favorites are avocado, pear, green beans, and squash.
Cate has a new nickname these days in addition to Cate Girl. Cole named her "Diaper Girl"! He says its her superhero name, and will sometimes call her "Diaps" or "Diapies" for short. For Cate's sake, I hope that name doesn't outlast her time in diapers!

I have to give a hair update! It's getting so long in the back. She has that baby mullet going on, but at least the back of her head is starting to fill in since she's been sitting up more and sleeping some on her stomach.

Of course Cole wanted to take some pictures with his favorite little sis!

The Zoo & Blueberries

Last week, we had the nicest July weather thanks to the polar vortex...highs in the 70s!  We took advantage by going to the zoo with Owen and Simon. Cole loves playing with them, and we had a great time. I hope the boys stay friends as they get older.

The zoo was the most crowded I had ever seen though because  of the nice weather.  We ate lunch there too before heading home.

On Friday, we also met up with them plus a few other moms and kids to pick some blueberries. We figured there were 6 moms and 15 kids!  We had quite the crew!  The kids had so much fun running around the farm!  We went to one of their houses for a pizza lunch and a little more play time before heading home for naps. Cole was exhausted by the time we left but had a great time!  It was fun to visit and meet some other moms too.

Summer Fun

I have pictures from a bunch of things we've done in the past few weeks.

We've gone to the splash pad a few times.

We all went to Cherry Berry one afternoon.  Tank tops are the style now!

We have gotten out the "big" pool for Cole to play in at home. He loves diving for the "sink guys"...the dive sticks.

There's always some brother/sister love going on!

We have also gone to Storytime Theater at church these Thursdays in July. Cole has actually participated in the craft this year!  Cate has also tried out the baby nursery and has done great!

We've gotten into donuts after church on Sundays, and we decided to mix it up and go to Krispy Kreme.

Then we just have to take cute pictures of Cate all the time!

Myrtle Beach - Best of the Rest

Cole developed a signature pose on this trip. Not sure how I feel about this one!
Cole giving Cate some love at dinner one night.

I think David is on the list of Cole's favorite people. He lets Cole play in his wheelchair and helped him perfect his wheelie.
They had matching tank tops! (Cole made us call David on Facetime this week because he had on his tank top like David.)
They have lots of fun together being silly too!

Here's Janet and David enjoying the view from the porch together on the 4th of July.

Our trip home on Saturday was much less eventful in a good way! We left early Saturday morning to drive to traffic...flight was on time...and the drive from the NW Arkansas Airport to home went by really fast. I had to take a picture of all 10 of our bags!
These two little cuties were sharing a seat on the airplane for a little bit! I think they were both watching a movie...probably the Lego Movie (Cole's favorite right now)!

Myrtle Beach - Evening Activities

With so many people in our group, we ate breakfast and all but one of our lunches at the house. The amount of groceries we had was insane!  We also got lots of donut holes from Dunkin Donuts on a few 100 and 125!  And they were all eaten each day!

Our first night, we got pizza from Ultimate California Pizza and ate at the house because every one was traveling and getting in at different times.  We also did another dinner in and had tacos and chips & queso. Our other low key dinner was at Firehouse Subs. The group wanted to go to a hamburger place but we had waited to long to go because we were all watching Stacy win in NW Arkansas(!!) and the wait was too long. I had decide to stay back with Cate because it was late for her and they brought food back for me.

We went out to dinner a few nights though...well late afternoon if you have 20 people in a vacation spot! We seriously had to go to dinner at 4:30 PM to avoid waiting forever! It worked out fine for us with Cole and Cate because we were able to get home before it got too late for them.

One night we wanted to go to a place called Drunken Jack's in Murrell's Inlet. We got there a little before 4:30 PM (they opened at 4 PM), and they told us it would be over an hour wait! Yikes! So we went to a place called Nance's Creekside Restaurant instead. It was a little dated, and the food was just so so. The best thing they had going for them were the hush puppies and honey butter! Cole was entertained there with David's foldable sunglasses.

Poor Cole Man fell asleep on the table watching Mater Tales before we left for dinner.

We took a few pictures once we got back to the house after dinner, and after our Lew Crew pictures.

We also went to RiverCity Café in Surfside for dinner and for lunch the day of the hurricane. They have really good burgers and chicken sandwiches. It's right on the beach, so it was nice to sit on the deck and watch the waves by the pier. We all were able to get different sandwiches that we liked just as much the day we went for lunch. I think they guys still had burgers on their list that they wanted to try! The day we went there for lunch, Cole was so tired, he slept on my lap the entire meal. Poor guy just couldn't make it any longer.

Our other dinner out was to Sara J's in Garden City. This was really close to our rental house and somewhere that we always go to when we come to the beach. They have really good seafood and my Dad loves their scallops. Janet and I got shrimp and grits, and I don't know why I've never thought to get that before because it was amazing! So good! Tony and I have talked about those shrimp and grits many times since we left! Cate Girl passed out on Janet's lap that night.

We were frequent visitors to the Baskin Robbins down the street! You have to have ice cream on vacation!

One night we also went to play putt putt. Uncle Gary stayed home with Cate after she went to bed, and the rest of us went to play some golf. Cole was pretty tired, but he was a good sport and played all 18 holes. We only lost his ball in the bushes one time, and we were able to find it after some searching. Stacy kept track of his ball and putter the rest of the time. Of course, Stacy won in our group!
The rest of the Lew Crew went out a few nights to Broadway at the Beach and the arcade and karaoke bar by the pier, but we didn't want to stay out that late with the little we were tired a lot of nights too!
