Longest Day Ever!

Wow...we had such a crazy day yesterday!  We woke up, packed the car for the beach, and drove to Rogers, AR to see Stacy and then to fly from there to Charlotte, NC that night.

It started off well.  Our drive was nice and uneventful.
We hung out with Stace and ate a good lunch at the clubhouse with her.  The kids were sporting their Arkansas gear!

Then we let Cate nap and hung out at Stacy's housing (which is the best ever...right on #9 green by the clubhouse). Cole and Tony watched Stacy warm up for a bit. Then I fed Cate while Tony and Cole watched her tee off.
I went to meet them when we were done and it was starting to go downhill. Cole was getting tired and cranky...so we watched Stacy putt and tee off, and we went back to do naps.
Cate used the BOB for the first time!
Well Cole did not like this plan of going inside, but he didn't want to walk anymore either. So we had a major meltdown and a lot of trouble getting him calmed down. Tony finally just got him to chill and relax for a little bit, but it was not an easy task. Cate took a great nap. (I go back and forth on who is easier!  Cate won at that moment!)

We did get to see Stacy hit an awesome shot from the sand on #9 to just a few inches to make an easy birdie.  We had to sat goodbye to her there since we only had another hour or so until we had to leave and Cate was still sleeping. So we just hung out and watched a little golf from the porch and played tic tac toe.
We left for the airport at 5:00 and then the day got really long!  It took them 30 min to check us in because of something with our reservation number from American to US Airways.  The upside was we were the last ones on the plane, ready to go...until we pull back from the gate and they say we can take off because of weather in Charlotte and will update us in 40 minutes. So we sat. Then they say we are clear to go and we get all ready. Now there's too much air traffic and we have to wait 30 more minutes!  Our hour and a half on the plane turned into 3 hours!  But Cole and Cate did unbelievable!  Cole watched a little iPad and talked to me. Cate sat in our laps, ate a few times, and barely cried. We couldn't believe it. We were busy keeping them both happy, but we survived!

We got to Charlotte and the airport is insane because of the weather. We waited forever for our bags and the rental car bus with our million bags!  We had one thing go our way and were able to select and go an suv to fit all of our luggage. We were on our way at 11 PM.  Cate was already asleep but Cole fell asleep before we got on the road. We had to run back by the terminal to get Tony's golf bag that was in a different area.

We were starving because we hadn't gotten anything to eat before left. So we found a Taco Bell and went through the drive thru and like midnight with our two kids asleep in the back!  Haha!  We didn't even know what to order at Taco Bell!  It had been so long since we had been to one. We check into our hotel and stuff our faces, bring in our million bags, and start getting ready for bed. Until we realize we are missing a bag with all if Cole's clothes in it!!!  Now Tony had to go back to the rental car place in hopes that it was there and luckily it was!!  What a relief!

We finally made it to bed around 1 AM, and we could not believe all that had happened!  Now we are ready to have a relaxing drive to the beach today!

Road Trip

I took Cole and Cate on a little road to visit Stacy in Arkansas on Monday. It's a little over an hour and a half drive, and it's pretty easy.

When we got there Cole wanted to go hit balls with Stacy right away!
He hit some great shots and we dogged a few rain showers while we were out there.
We came in to go have some lunch, Chick-fil-a of course!  Then we came back to feed Cate and let her nap. While she napped, it started pouring!  Cole really wanted to play in the rain....
So he played outside for a long time and came in to playing with more toys inside. We also got to see Stacy's college coach and Travis, her caddy, came to lunch with us.
We stayed until 4:30 and headed back home. Both kids slept pretty much the whole way!  Pretty nice!  We are back again to watch her play in the tournament this weekend too!

Cate - 5 Months

Cate just keeps growing and growing! Here we are at her 5 month update, almost a week late! I did get her pictures taken on the day though. She is all smiles and giggles most of the day! She still has her fussy times, but most of the time she's really easy going.
This was the first time she really started pulling at her month sticker...the little stinker. :)
One of the main new things for Cate this past month, has been her eating. She still nurses about 5 times a day, but we've added one baby food "meal" after her late afternoon feeding. She's tried sweet potatoes, pears, green beans, peaches, and bananas. She has liked all of them, but she had a banana spit up one night and wasn't interested in them the next day. So we might have to take a break from them for a little bit. Sweet potatoes seem to be a favorite right now. She'll eat 1-2 ounces, and does a great job eating in her high chair.
Cate is getting really strong. She pushes way up on her arms. She loves sitting and standing up (both with help). She laughs and smiles so big when Daddy makes her dance.
A little over a week ago, Cate perfected her roll over off her tummy. Now she does it all the time...pretty much whenever she's on her tummy, she flips right over to her back.
Cate is wearing size 3 diapers and 6-9 or 6-12 month clothes. We've started wearing some kind of bow everyday to keep her hair out of her face.

Her sleep schedule has improved. Most nights she's sleeping from 8 PM to 7 AM. She still has the occasional wake up during the night. I just feed her...we've tried letting her cry, but it doesn't seem to work. It's hard listening to the cry in the middle of the night and we don't want Cole to wake up too. She doesn't do it every night...maybe once or twice a week, so I'm not too worried about it. She's taking 3 naps a day, usually an hour and a half in length, and she's up for about an hour and a half before that. She's having more awake time, and settling into a better, more predictable schedule.
She has really started to enjoy the exersaucer toy and still like her play mat. She's starting to get a little more vocal about what she likes or doesn't like. We love making her smile and laugh. She's giving us some pretty funny looks and responses to things we do. She also has her hands in her mouth all the time! She's been biting down on them, so I'm not surprised if she's starting her teething.
Those cheeks! Love them!
We are looking forward to taking her on her first airplane ride and beach trip coming up.

Swim Lessons Week 2

Cole's second week of swim lesson went by so fast!

After the Tuesday lesson, I braved swimming with Cole and Cate. They did great, and Cate loved the water!  It was interesting logistically a few times, but we made it work.

Moms got to watch the final lesson to see all they had learned. It was entertaining watching Cole in his class. He never sat still and kept trying to talk to his teachers and tell stories.

They wrapped up the class with a little money diving in the little pool.

Cole got enough money to buy himself a Hot Weels!  That was the perfect ending to swim lessons in his mind too.

Look-Alikes?

I couldn't resist...another Cole vs. Cate pic in their ABC jammies, Bumbo seat, and peacock toy. :)

Father's Day

We celebrated our #1 Dad-a (pronounced Dad-uh) yesterday with a few things to make him feel special and loved. First, was an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen!  We all loved that one and will be eating that for a few more days!

We got him a new golf polo that he can wear to work or golf and my little picture tradition that I started with Cole when he was one. Here are this years pictures with Cole and Cate.

We grilled hot dogs and had dinner at home. But I did get a picture right before bedtime.
Thank you Daddy for loving and taking care of all of us!  And for keeping Cole and Cate clean with their nightly baths! :)

Swim Lessons - Week 1

Cole started swim lessons this week. We decided to try the ones at our neighborhood pool for convenience. He's having a blast and wakes up asking if he gets to go to swim lessons today.

Tuesday was his first day since we had rain on Monday. The Mom's have to stay back so we don't distract the kids. It was so hard to just let him go!  He looked so big!
He did great though!  He was so exited that he went underwater.

Day 2 he was just as excited. He was even the helper and carried the pool toys for his teacher.

Day 3 was nice and sunny for their class. They were heading into the pool area when we got there and he literally threw his shoes at me and grabbed his towel and took off!  He didn't want to miss anything!

I had promised a trip to Braums for ice cream one day after swim lessons and decided a Friday was a good day to go.
He's had his eye on birthday cake flavored ice cream for awhile, so that's what he went with today. Loved it!

Blueberry Pickin'

Cole and I had a fun Saturday morning outing going to pick blueberries. We go to a farm called Thunderbird Berry Farm about 4 miles from our house. We missed strawberry season, but we were out for the first day of blueberries!

The weather couldn't have been better. It was overcast and 70s and not very crowded. We picked 2.5 pounds of berries...well mostly me!

Cole liked picking them for me to eat, or I picked and put them in his bucket. Then he dumped them into the big bucket.
But in true Cole fashion, he just talked and asked me questions most of the time.
He told me he had fun though and loved petting the owner's dogs.  He will only eat the blueberries in a smoothie, but we are going to try some muffins or pancakes too if I haven't eaten them all first!

Weekly Update

Here's what we've been up to this week!

We went to the splash pad at 8:30 AM!  We are early risers and Cole was ready to get out there and have some fun. It actually worked out well because it got really crowded between 9:30 and 10.  Cole had the place to himself for about an hour. Plus it wasn't quite so hot for those of us not in the water.

Cole snuck some selfies of my phone when I wasn't looking!

We made smoothies.  Cole is sporting a haircut too.

We visited Daddy's new office and went with him to lunch on Friday.
