Memorial Day Weekend

We took our longest road trip yet with Cate last weekend to my parents' house in The Woodlands. It takes us about 7.5 hours and we make a few stops for food and bathroom breaks. Cole and Cate did great on the drive down. We took a few pics to entertain ourselves.

Cole and his new squid dive sticks.
 And smiley Cate.
The girl loves her fingers.
We got there around dinner time on Thursday. My cousin, Bryan, also came into town so he, my Dad and Tony could play golf. They played all three days of the weekend too. So my Mom and I were on our own with the kiddos quite a bit. On Friday we went to The Woodlands Children's Musuem. Cole had a blast!  There were so many things for kids his age to do. He didn't even play with everything and we were there for almost two hours.   He played with the trains a bunch, but he also LOVED this water table with magnet fish and fishing poles.

He tried the dump trucks.

Another favorite was the fire truck and pole.

My Mom even got him to do the craft table at the very end.

Cate loved watching the fish in the big fish tank!

My little king and queen!

On Saturday my Mom and I got pedicures before the guys went to golf and I was able to get my haircut.  Cole and Cate got to hang out with Nina and went to Chick-fil-a.

Cole had tons of fun playing with Bry Bry. They played at the park.

And Cole wore Bryan out swimming in the pool everyday...more than once a day even!

Cate just did a little swimming, but she got to hang out with everyone outside on the patio a bunch.

My Mom and I were able to do a little shopping on Sunday afternoon, and we ate out a few nights (Rico's and Willie's). We were even able to see Tony's Mom and brother a few times since they were still in town too.

We headed back late Monday morning and made it home before dinner time. We have a little tradition of stopping at the Dairy Queen outside of Paris, Texas for Blizzards. Cole is finally old enough to enjoy his own!  He picked M&M's in case you were wondering, and he ate the whole thing!  ( I don't know where he got the love of ice cream from??!!)

Cate's First Swim

Cate got her first dip in the pool this weekend. The water was a little chilly so she didn't get all the way in, but didn't seem to mind getting her legs and bottom wet.
I'm sure she will have lots of chances to do some more swimming this summer too!

Cate at 4 Months

Wow! We are already 1/3 of the way through our first year with sweet little Cate!
We have not been in for her 4 month check up, so I'll have to add her stats after that. I think it's safe to say that she's going to be big for her age, just like Cole was. She is wearing 3-6 month clothes, but can also start to fit into some 6-12 or 6-9 month clothes. She's also wearing size 3 diapers, with the occasional size 2's that we have to get rid of. Update: As of 5/28, Cate measured 26.5 inches (97%) and 16 pounds 4 ounces (91%).
We had Cate's dedication at church over Mother's Day weekend. We also took our first out of town trip during this past month when we drove to Dallas for the weekend. She did great with a little bit of crying on the drive home, but I think she adapted pretty well with all that was going on. We've had a little change with her sleep schedule in the past week. She was sleeping from 8 PM to 7 AM at night and taking 3, 2 hour naps during the day. However, she hit a significant growth spurt and started waking up between 4 and 5 AM for an extra feeding and taking shorter naps which lasted about 4 days. She's started to come out of it, but is hit or miss on sleeping until 7 AM and taking 3 naps still but varying in length from 45 min to 1.5 hrs. If she wakes up after 45 minutes, we try to hit the swing so she will fall asleep for a little bit longer. Update: I forgot to add that she is sleeping with a sleep sack on for naps and night since about 16 weeks. She missed her swaddle for a little bit, but adjusted pretty quickly.
She hasn't rolled over yet, but is starting to move her hips around and roll side to side when she's on her back and tummy. She likes laying on her playmat and sitting in the Bumbo seat.
She is still breastfeeding and eats 5 or 6 times a day, depending on when she wakes up in the morning. That is going well, and we have no plans of stopping. I am counting on making it a year, like I did with Cole, and so far, so good. I'm excited about starting rice cereal and baby foods soon though!
Cate has a sweet little smile and will smile and "talk" whenever she makes eye contact. It's fun to see her paying attention to what's going on around her and interacting with us and Cole. She's also had a few good belly laughs out of the blue. She's also started blowing little raspberries and bubbles. Her shirt is usually soaked half way down from all of it. She also has these funny sighs that she makes.
I got a good picture of her hair. It's getting longer! But it's a little shorter and balder looking on the back of her head where she sleeps on it. Bows will stay in much easier now though as her hair has gotten longer and a little thicker.
No monthly photo shoot is complete without a picture with big brother. :)
I also got this cute one of them looking at each other. Cole loves to get her to smile, using his high pitch voice. "Cate, gimmie a smile, girl." :)

Twins??

Just kidding! They do not look like twins at all. :) We have a few outfits of Cole's that we put Cate in, one of them being this cute whale print onesie. It's a little boyish on Cate, but I like it with a bow and some pink shorts to make it look a little more girlie. This was one of my favorite pictures of Cole when he was little...
so I tried to recreate it with Cate and the self timer on my camera.
They both look pretty adorable in their own way (in my opinion)!

Shopping

We went to the new Nordstrom Rack store here last weekend...which is kind of a big deal since we don't really get stores like that very often!  Tony and Cole got a few things so I had to keep Cole occupied while Tony was checking out.

So we headed over to the hats!  He picked out both of our hats and insisted on taking a picture. :)

Week With Nina and Pop Pop

Last week my Mom drove back to our house after the Dallas tournament to spend the week with us. We did a lot of just hangin out but also managed to get out and do a few fun things.

We ate lunch at the new Firehouse Subs before grocery shopping on Monday. Cole loved that he got a fireman hat.

On Tuesday we had promised Cole a trip to the zoo. The weather was great too.

With an extra set of hands, Cate got to take her first ride on the carousel. She rode the sea horse next to Bruce, the shark.

We did a little shopping one day and took a walk down to the park to play. Cole had to wear his goggles for some reason. He was looking like a cool dude.

On Thursday, my Mom helped me out big time and stayed with Cole and Cate so I could celebrate my former teaching partner, Ann Louise's retirement. She gave Cate two bottles!

Then my Dad came in on Friday and they watched the kids again so we could go to the dedication dinner at church since we were doing that for Cate on Sunday. Cole was super excited because they went to Raising Cane's for dinner.

Saturday was also busy with lunch at Old School Bagel and a birthday party that Tony and Cole went to and some grocery shopping for my Mom and I.

Then on Sunday we had Cate's dedication at church. We were glad that my parents could be there just like they were for Cole's.

We kept the tradition going and went to Dilly Deli for breakfast. Cole loves with cinnamon rolls...good thing there's enough to share!

We took a few fun pics too!

Happy Mother's Day to me!

We came home and spent a little more time with my parents before they had to drive back home. Cole showed off how he's been working on his scooter that he got for his birthday.

It ended up being a pretty busy week, but we had so much fun with them here. It was nice to have some extra hands and entertainment for Cole Man!  We are ready for another visit soon!
