March on his birthday
The major milestones we hit in the past 6 months are potty training (in August) and sleeping in the toddler bed (in June). He's doing well with both although he still has some accidents and doesn't always stay in his bed right away when its nap and night time. He's getting betther with both. He does well sleeping on the little blow up bed when we travel too, and will usually make it all night without getting up especially if we are in the room with him.
This is the room situation one of the first days he slept in the toddler bed. He played for a long time and fell asleep with the light on. :)
He goes through some picky phases with food espcially now since he can tell us what he wants/likes or doesn't. His favorite fruits right now are bananas, pears, applesauce, and avacado. He loves yogurt and cheese. His favorite veggies are zucchini, peas, corn, and broccoli. He would have mac & cheese for every meal if he could. He also likes having chicken fingers and fries when we go out to eat. He's good about eating what we have for dinner although sometimes we modify to make it a little easier to eat.
Cole is a TALKER! He's always "hey mom" or "hey dad" and telling us something. He usually comes up with things that crack us up or that we can't believe he remembers from days or weeks ago that he just brings up out of the blue. He sings versions of ABCs and his own made up songs about "Mater, Mater, and McQueen". He loves knowing what's happening next in his day and will say "and after that" to get the next item of business. He loves to play with cars and trains. He likes to do puzzles, make tall buildings with his blocks and Legos, and putt with his putter from Aunt Tay Tay. He's gotten much better at throwing a ball and catching. He can run and kick and just loves running in general, especially when we go on walks in the neighborhood. He can recognize pretty much every letter when he sees it and numbers 0-9 (although not as well as letters). We've been working on his colors a lot in the past two months and he knows red, blue, green, yellow, orange, pink, and purple the best. He's just a little sponge! We don't really do anything formal with his learning, but I just try to incorporate it with things he's aready doing or playing with. He's not much for sitting still and working on one thing for very long, although I've noticed he's getting better in the past month or so. We did do some single color activities until he got the hang of looking and recognizing the different colors, but now we can just sort cars or blocks or balls or whatever by colors and he knows what he's looking for.
We took Cole to see his first movie, Planes, while we were on vacation. He loved it and is still talking about Dusty going through the tunnel and almost hitting the train. He goes back and forth on what shows he's into for the moment. He likes Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Thomas & Friends, Chuggington, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, and Doc McStuffins. He likes playing games and having control over what he watches on the iPad, although we try to limit it to a few short sessions a day.
Cole's took some swimming lessons back in June and turned into a little fish this summer. He loves going under water and jumping in all the time.
I could go on and on about the Cole-man! He's so full of personality and it's so fun seeing him learn and become his own little person. I feel so lucky to be home with him and experience it even more that I did before when I was working. One of the best parts of the day is when he yells "Daddy's home" and runs full speed towards the door to tell Daddy all about his day. We will be soaking up a few more months of Cole Only Time...Happy Half Birthday Cole!
