Starting a New Decade

Last Tuesday was my 30th birthday - yikes! We celebrated by going out to dinner as a family to Charleston's. We don't go out just the three of us for dinner very often, but we had a really great time. Cole is getting a little more low maintenance with eating out. I also got two sets of flowers and work front my parents and Tony and Cole. We had some yummy Merritt's cake for dessert and a caterpillar cookie for the man.

The most fun surprise was that Tony had a trip planned for us to go to New York City for a long weekend. More on that to come!

Tony and I ran the Sweetheart Run in downtown Tulsa on Saturday. It's a Fleet Feet race with a 5k and 10k. We decided to go for it because one of my friends at work always runs it, and we could run as a "couple" for both races. That's right, we did the 5k and then did the 10k! Here's my race bib...the last race of my 20s!
Since we ran both races and as a couple, here's ALL the results! Tony would take a * by his times since he ran with me and could have run faster on his own. I appreciated the company though!
Tony - 5k: 21:15 (16/223 guy, 3rd age group); 10k: 45:37 (16/252, 3rd age group); 7/57 in the combined 5k & 10k
Beth - 5k: 21:25 (6/427 girl, 2nd age group); 10k: 45:36 (1/353, 1st age group); 1/80 in the combined 5K & 10k
Couples - 5k: 4/72; 10k: 1/36; Combined: 1/9
We had a few first places in there! The big winner was a $25 gift card to McNellies for winning the 10k for women. We also got some chocolates for the couples awards and a race picture frame for the age group stuff.

Cole stayed with Tony's sister and her boyfriend while we did the race. It was so nice of them to get up early on a Saturday to babysit and help us out! Cole had a great time over there. They have stairs and three dogs! We picked up breakfast at our favorite, Old School Bagel, on the way home and took naps in the afternoon!

Happy Valentine's Day!

We have been taking full advantage of the Valentine's sweets around our house! Cole has been a little under the weather since last night. Not sure what's really wrong with him...just clingy, not eating as much as normal, and just not himself. It started last night, so we let him sleep in this morning and he didn't have a fever so Tony took him to daycare a little later than normal. He had an ok day, but his babysitter said just not his usual self. In some of these pictures he has a little bit of an attitude on his face. :)

I decided to carry on with my plan of taking him to Merritt's to get a little special treat and to get some treats to go for Mama & Daddy after school today! I was worried he might not want to eat anything, but I was wrong! I let him pick out what he wanted, and of course he wanted a cupcake with a bunch of frosting!
I went to cut the cupcake to try to make it easier for him to eat, but that made him very upset! He started crying and wanted me to "fix it". So, I stuck it back together and he started going for the icing first after that.
He wasn't into sharing the cupcake either! He kept saying "my cupcake" when I tried to take a bite. I had to steal a few when he wasn't looking though!
Between the two of us, we ate every single last bite of that yummy cupcake! I should never have thought otherwise! He ended up with mostly red frosting all over his face, hands, and clothes. Plus he spilled water down his front. He was quite the mess when we left. Good thing we were going home! Cole got stripped down in the car for the ride so we didn't get frosting all over his car seat. It didn't really seem to phase him one bit! He just didn't want to get in the car seat, of course. When he doesn't feel right he's very indecisive and ok one minute, upset the next! :)
We had a fun little time at Merritts even with a few little unhappy moments. It was cute to see him loving that cupcake and it was HIS to eat!

A Few Pictures From Our Week

Tony took his first long work trip this week and is coming back tonight. Yay! Cole and I have stayed plenty busy and have gotten a long just fine, but we are excited to have Daddy home soon.

Tony usually does Cole's baths, so I got to take over that duty.

We had some romantic dinners, just the two of us. :)

We went out for a run after work on Tuesday. The weather was so nice! We stopped and played at the park for a long time, and played in the backyard once we got home.

Last night, Cole came with me to Pilates class. He watched a little iPad, walked around and checked stuff out, helped me do a few exercises, etc. Then, we went to Chick-fil-a for dinner. Cole loves to dip, dip his nuggets. He likes the Polynesian sauce right now.
