Running last week and weekend has been getting more difficult as the temperature and humidity are just swallowing us whole right now. Last week highs were 96 and above and this weekend we made it to 100, but humidity has been around 80-90%, so the heat index makes it feel like 115 degrees. It's just unbearable to be outside for any lenght of time. We even got up this morning to run at 5:30 and it was already over 80 degrees and it was just hard to breathe, so it wasn't much relief. We've kept our mileage to between 20-30 miles, depending on the week, and some how we keep going out there to run every day. It just hasn't been much fun lately. I dare say it might be worse than Houston! (The summer heat just doesn't last as long here.)
Last week/weekend, I took a four day trip to Missouri to Table Rock Lake to spend the weekend with five other girls that I teach with. We drove up on Thursday and had nice weather pretty much the whole weekend...hot of course, but that's what you'd expect. We rented a boat and went out on the lake one day and did some shopping. Most of the time we just spent talking or eating...just getting to know each other more. The lake was really pretty, and I finally got to see some of Branson that everyone talks about. I was glad that I went even though I did miss Tony. We came back on Sunday, so we still got to spend some time together before he had to go back to work today.
We started making some plans for the fall. So, some things we have to look forward to are Labor Day weekend, we are going to make a trip to Canton, TX for Trade Days. We went last year around the same time with my parents and had a great time. Then, the next week, my parents are going to come stay with us for a week. Tony's will also be in town too. The NW Arkansas golf tournament will be at the end of that week, so we'll all be going to that. Plus, one of my cousins, who plays football, will be playing against Univ. of Tulsa that weekend. It's going to be a busy weekend! I also just got our tickets for my fall break to go to San Diego for four days!
I'm hoping we get to go someplace that looks like this in San Diego too!
