We now have our entire trip to Australia booked including all hotels, flights, and rental cars. Our trip is going to be a mix of everything. We will be spending time in Sydney, outside of Sydney in the mountains, on the beach near the Great Barrier Reef, and even on the beach south of Sydney. We'll definitely get to see a lot of different sides of Australia which I think will be fun.
I got some great deals on hotels using different promo codes that I found online. One code on Orbitz(after a bunch of searching) got us $50 off our 3 night stay in Port Douglas. And the room rate that Orbitz was offering(before the discount) was lower than even the hotel site was offering. I also got 15% off our rental car through Europcar after finding a promo code and got 5% off through Avis. Needless to say, I probably saved us over $200 just by doing some internet searching. People wonder how we travel so much and that's one of the ways. I don't stop searching until I find a good deal. And the best part about it is the fact that we're staying in 4 and 5 star hotels(star ratings are a little different in Australia) for what you would pay to stay at Holiday Inn Express in the States.
Beth and I haven't been to the beach since our honeymoon so Australia's going to give us a chance to get back to the beach. I'm not much of a beach person, but Beth enjoys it. I like the beach, I just get bored after about 15 minutes. And while we're at the beach, we're doing a daytrip out to the Great Barrier Reef. We will be visiting 3 different reef sites and snorkeling at each one.
We will also spend a day and a half out at the Blue Mountains about 2 hours west of Sydney. It is listed as a World Heritage Site and I think we'll have fun exploring at a little bit slower pace.
Anyway, that's a pre-trip rundown of what we'll be doing. We're only about 3 months away at this point and have a lot of fun stuff going on between now and then.
