Can't Wait

I can't wait for Beth to get here next Thursday. She's coming to Tulsa for a long weekend to help get things unpacked and even better, for an interview. I've been slowly unpacking things, but it's hard when it's just me doing it and when I'm not sure where to put things.

On Sunday when I got back from Augusta, GA, I spent a few hours pulling weeds out of the flower beds. Today I spent 2 hours pulling weeds out of the lawn and also mowing it. The lawn probably hasn't been tended to in at least 6 months and it was definitely showing. In the past few days, we've gotten at least a few inches of rain and our lawn was absolutely soaked. Although it wasn't the best mowing conditions, I didn't care. I was tired of looking at a horrible lawn. Here's a pic of the lawn after I got done with it. It's still in need of a lot of TLC, but I'm confident that in a few months, I'll be able to get it looking great.

Tomorrow I am flying down to Houston and on Saturday Beth and I are driving over to Austin for a wedding. I'm actually looking forward to spending the day and night in Austin. It should be fun. On Sunday we are coming back to The Woodlands to go to the Kenny Chesney concert. It's been over 8 years since I've seen him in concert and I'm really excited about seeing him on Sunday.

Crazy Week

This week has definitely been a crazy one. It started with my flight from Houston to Tulsa on Sunday night, being delayed for over an hour which meant I didn't get to Tulsa until almost midnight. I then had a 35 minute drive back to Bartlesville. After sleeping for a few hours, I turned around at 6:45 the next morning and drove back to Tulsa for work.

On Tuesday I picked Beth up at the airport at 7 p.m. She came up to Tulsa for our house closing on Wednesday morning. Needless to say, our closing didn't end up happening like we thought it would. Instead of a 10 a.m. closing on Wednesday, we found ourselves sitting at the closing office at 11:45 a.m. with no closing documents to sign. We also found out that the bank who owned the house and needed to sign the documents as well, couldn't sign them until 4 p.m. Meaning that we couldn't get the keys until after 4 p.m. The problem with this was the fact that I had the movers, the cable guy, and the refrigerator delivery all scheduled between noon and 2 p.m. Not to mention Beth's flight back to Houston was leaving at 6 p.m.

After sitting at the closing office for about 20 minutes, the documents finally came across. We signed our documents and paid our closing costs, but still had no house. At 4:30 p.m. right as I was getting ready to take Beth to the airport, our realtor called and said she had the keys and everything was good to go. Perfect timing, huh? Right. Luckily our movers were okay to reschedule and they were sitting at our house at 4:45 p.m. ready to unload. Our realtor ended up going to the house to let the movers in while I took Beth to the airport. So Beth never ended up getting to go in the house that she closed on.

I hurried back to the house and at 7:30 p.m. that night, all of our stuff was moved into the house. At 8 p.m. the refrigerator delivery came and that ended up taking nearly 2 hours.

I have now spent two nights in our new house and I love it. I went running for the first time in our new neighborhood last night and it was great. Our neighborhood is really quiet and everyone is very friendly.

Right now I am sitting in the DFW airport waiting to catch a flight to Atlanta where I am meeting Beth and her family and we are driving to Augusta, GA for a wedding that we are going to tomorrow night. Should be a lot of fun, but it will be a really quick trip. Luckily I only have an hour and a half wait for Beth and her family's flight to get in. It's going to be another late night, but I'm not complaining. I hope to put some pics of our new house up here soon as well as some pictures from this weekend in Georgia.

What's Been Going On

I know it's been quite a while since we've actually posted something on here and the main reason is that Beth and I haven't been in the same place too much and when we are, we just haven't felt like taking the time to write on here. I'm in Houston this weekend hanging out with Beth and this is pretty much the last "normal" weekend for a while. I'm just about sick of flying back and forth every weekend because you are at the airlines' mercy when it comes to making plans on Friday night. Last night my flight was scheduled to leave at 3:25 p.m. and land in Houston at 5:05 p.m. Instead, my flight took off at 6:10 p.m. and didn't land in Houston until 7:45 p.m. Needless to say, our plans for last night changed.

We did end up going to eat at Ninfa's on Navigation. Most people who have lived in Houston have heard of Ninfa's but may not have known there is the original Ninfa's just outside of downtown Houston. In the past five years it's had quite a transformation from a hole in the wall restaurant to more of an attraction. They've kind of gotten the word out there about the "original" Ninfa's which has made it way more popular and crowded. The food is great though and I would highly recommend it if you're in Houston looking for a good Mexican restaurant.

This week is going to be pretty busy. I'm flying back to Tulsa tomorrow night. On Tuesday Beth is flying up to Tulsa. And on Wednesday we are closing on our new house! We are closing in the morning and in the afternoon we have the movers, the cable guy, the refrigerator deliverers, and a few other people all scheduled to come.

On Friday we are going to Atlanta for a wedding. Beth and her family are leaving from Houston and I'm leaving from Tulsa and meeting them in Atlanta. From there we are driving to Augusta. It's going to be a great time and we are really looking forward to it.

That's about it for now. Hopefully once I'm in Tulsa for good, I will better access to a computer and can update a little more often.

Wedding Season Begins

We thought last year was busy with our own wedding, well we need to get ready because we have quite a few weddings in the next couple of months. Here's our schedule:

April 25th - My sister's best friend's (Kelly) brother, Jamie is getting married in Augusta, GA. The whole family (minus Stacy) is going to this one.

May 2nd - One of my college roommates, Jacquelyn, is getting married in Austin. Just Tony & I are going.

June 13th - Two of my friends from high school, Kim and Todd are getting married in The Woodlands. Their reception is at The Marriott just like ours!

June 27th - Our friends, Romi and Rian, are getting married in Houston. Tony is an usher and I'm the guest book attendant.

June 27th - One of my sorority sisters, Kathleen, is getting married in Austin. Obviously we can't go to this one since we're in the wedding in Houston this weekend. I'm pretty bummed because I'd love to see her and all the Chi-O girlies that would be there.

July 25th - I just found out about this one tonight! Tony's friend, Jacob, is getting married in Portland, OR. Jacob was Tony's best man in our wedding, and we are so excited for him! We're going to spend our 1 year anniversary in Portland now!

That completes this list as of now, but we are not counting out the possibility of more weddings to come. Not sure who it might be, but you never know. What we do know is that we will be making the rounds traveling and going to everyone else's wedding this year. No stress for us, just fun times!

That's the status of our first house together. Gone. The movers came on Thursday to pack everything up and by noon yesterday, the house was empty. And at 4 p.m., the house was no longer ours. It feels pretty bittersweet to say the least. Beth and I always knew we wouldn't live in the house forever. It was only a little over 1500 sq. feet and would start feeling pretty small once we started having kids. We were really just tired of renting and not putting our money toward anything and that's the main reason we decided to buy a house in the first place. All of that being said, we really did like our house. We did so much to it to make it our own and to make it feel cozy. It wasn't easy shutting the door yesterday knowing that we would never go inside again.

On the other hand, we are moving to a great new house. It's nearly 2400 sq. feet and a house that we can just move into without having to change a thing. Our new neighborhood is nice and quiet and very family oriented. I think right now the hardest part is just being in limbo. All of our stuff is in storage until we close on our new house and it's still going to be a little while before actually getting everything moved in and feel a sense of normalcy. These next few months are going to be an adventure to say the least. But hopefully it'll be a fun adventure. Below is a pic of our new house:

It's Moving Time

We are moving out of our house tomorrow and Friday! I can't believe that the day is really here. I am having all of those mixed emotions about leaving. We have put a lot of work into our house to make it ours, and now we're not going to live here anymore. At the same time, I'm excited about our new house in Tulsa. It's a great house with tons of potential for us to make it our own. We are really looking forward to the nice, quiet neighborhood that we're moving to...which would contrast our busy neighborhood we live in now. Always tons of cars around. I've been working on taking things down off of the walls and painting nail holes. Also, patching the holes from the curtains in the kitchen and bedroom has been a little bit of a project.

The movers are coming at 8 am tomorrow to start packing up our house. I am going to be staying with my parents from now on, and Tony will too when he's in town. We don't close on our house in Tulsa until April 22, so our things are going to storage for a few weeks until we can move in. Everything is finally happening with the move. I can't believe it's been 2 months since Tony's been working in Tulsa. It's gone by faster than expected.

Now all I need to do is find a teaching job in Tulsa! I've applied online to several districts, but that's about as far as it's gone. Hopefully in the next few months, something will come along.

Wish us luck with least all we are really going to have to do is clean and make sure the movers pack stuff up the right way!
