Happy Birthday Ryanne!

Momma and Ryanne

Birthday Cake

Birthday Girl

Our friends, Sarah and Mike's little girl, Ryanne, celebrated her first birthday today! She is the cutest baby and we love her so much. It was great to be a part of the birthday celebration. Sarah planned a great little get together with close friends and her immediate family with a "stock the library" theme. So Ryanne got all kinds of new books as presents. Tony and I had a good time going shopping for them too. Ryanne had no interest in opening presents, but did get excited about some of the books. We were surprised that she didn't put her face or hands in the cake at all. She just tried to lick the icing and got a few little bites fed to her and she had enough. It was a cute little first birthday party though, and we had a good time.

Mrs. Wysocki Goes Back to School

I've made it through 4 days of school so far, and so happy it's almost the weekend! I had forgotten how tiring it is at the beginning of the school year. I've wanted to come home and crash on the couch every day this week. It's hard getting back into getting up early, being on your feet all day, and having to take care of a million things at once. I really like my new school this year even though all the 6th grade teachers are in portable rooms. That's an adjustment and so is being in an elementary school environment. There are some cute little ones though. The 6th graders are babied a lot more than they are at the junior high level. I have to take school supplies, keep track of the times to change classes because no bells, and have to keep the kids in my room until their buses are called. I can't really say if it's good or bad, just different. AND I've had a broken air conditioner in my room up until today and had to go buy a fan to make it through. The poor kids and I were dying every day since it's 95+ degrees in the afternoons. Can't complain anymore though because I got a whole new AC unit today.

I also enjoy my co-workers and the kids. I only have 2 classes now but with 2 subjects. It makes it a lot easier to grade and learn the kids. So far, so good though. I just can't wait to be used to being back at school. I think Tony thinks I'm the biggest bum right now. Anyways, jeans and tshirt Friday tomorrow and then it's the weekend! Yeah!

Where Did the Weekend Go?

It's been quite awhile since I've posted. Tony's kept the blog going in my absence. I've been so consumed with school the past week, I haven't really thought of anything else. Well, school start tomorrow and my last weekend before I have to be back at work has come an gone. We are so excited that we got our wedding pictures this week. We think they turned out really good for the most part and are going to have a really hard decision when we have to start picking pictures for our album. This weekend we went out to dinner with my parents on Friday and Saturday nights. On Friday night we were actually not boring and we went downtown to meet up with Alyssa and Dave and some of their friends for Dave's birthday. We had a good time and were glad to be there. Saturday we didn't do much of anything. Tony was in a bad mood because we've been going round and round with Comcast (cable provider)...long story, but there have been issues with our bill since we went to cancel our service over a month ago and it's still not resolved. Anyways, I also had to go up to school to get a few more things together, so we really didn't get to do too much.

Today we were actually productive and got up and went running this morning. It was so nice to get that over with early and the weather earlier in the day is much easier to deal with. Hopefully we can get ourselves motivated to do that more often. We worked a Sweet Leaf Tea event down at the Hobby Center. We hadn't worked an event in awhile and decided we could help out this weekend. We didn't know that we'd be outside the whole time and we gave out all the samples which is not a common event. So we were pretty busy. After that we went out to dinner with one of my friends forever, Johnny, and his girlfriend, Katie. We went to the original Ninfas, which is awesome, and we had a really great time with them. They are going to Greece in two days. We know they are going to have a great time and can't wait to hear about their trip when they get back! It was also really cool to see Tony getting along so well with one of my best friends...not that he has trouble getting along with anyone! Plus we really like Katie and have enjoyed getting to know her so far. So that was our weekend and now it's back to the grind tomorrow morning. It's the first day of school for me. I can't wait to meet my students and get to know them. I am really hoping for a great year! We'll see how it goes tomorrow!

We're Back

Beth and I made it back from our honeymoon a few days ago. I think we had the best time that we possibly could have. The weather was great in both Phuket and Hong Kong and we both had a great time exploring new places and trying new things. And getting to do it together was the best part.

I can't believe that it has already been two weeks since our wedding. It really was a special time and Beth and I loved every moment of it. So many people came from many different places to share in it with us and we couldn't be more grateful. My Mom did an amazing job getting the rehearsal dinner together and just lending a helping hand wherever was needed. And the wedding probably would have never happened without Beth's Mom helping as much as she did. Not only was she there to help whenever needed, she also was there to listen to us and lend advice anytime we asked which was really great.

Most of Beth's family came down from Toledo, Ohio and it was their first visit to Houston. I hope they had a great time because we had a great time with all of them being here. We were sad that Beth's grandparents from Ohio couldn't come but we can't wait for the Jamie Farr next year to see them and hopefully all of Beth's other family can help give them a recap of the weekend events. And there's always the thousands of pictures that were taken that will help as well.

I finally got to meet Beth's grandaparents and Aunt from Arizona and that was great. I'm just sad that it took so long to meet them. I'm glad they were here to share in everything with us though. And I also enjoyed my dance with Beth's Grandma. Hopefully Beth and I can make it out to Arizona to see them sometime in the near future.

My Grandma Wysocki and her husband came from Wisconsin for the wedding. I'm really excited that Beth got to meet them. And honored that they made the trip. I'm also glad that Beth finally got to meet Mary Wysocki. We had a great dinner with her the Wednesday before the wedding. It had been nearly four years since I had seen Mary so it was really nice to catch up. Those were the only two Wysockis represented at the wedding and I'm very glad that it was only those two. Although I do wish that my Uncle Mike would have been able to make it.

Hopefully we'll have some pics to post up here pretty soon. I know that our photographer said our pictures will be online August 14th. We'll keep you posted.

Hong Kong!

Well, we made it to Hong Kong and I must say, it's a pretty crazy place here. Our flight was pretty uneventful. We got to Hong Kong around 5 p.m. and had a car from the hotel pick us up and bring us to the hotel. Our hotel is located in Kowloon which is on the northside of Victoria Harbour. After checking into our hotel, we had a light snack in the Club Lounge which is conveniently located down the hall from our room on the 36th floor. The Club Lounge offers complimentary snacks and beverages 24 hours a day with great views of Hong Kong.

After our snacks, we ventured out into Hong Kong. We first went to the Avenue of the Stars to watch the Symphony of Lights which happen every night at 8 p.m. After that, we ventured across the harbour to a Mexican restaurant for dinner. You read that right, we had Mexican food for dinner last night. They even served Sol beer! And the food was pretty darn good too.

Our hotel is really nice and it's actually located next to this huge mall that has every store you could think of. The mass transit system is great. Probably the best I've ever seen. Not that I'm an expert, but it's much more efficient and well-marked than the London, Paris, and Berlin metro systems.

Today we are going to Victoria Peak and whatever else we decide. We have to take advantage of our short time here.

Off to Hong Kong

Unfortunately we have to leave Phuket this morning. But it's okay because we've had a great time and I can't wait to see Hong Kong. For some weird reason, Hong Kong has always been a place that I've wanted to see so hopefully the next two days will be great. If you look at the pics below, you'll understand a little bit better why we're not totally ready to leave our little place here in Phuket.

No Worries

As most people know, much of Phuket was destroyed during the massive Tsunami at the end of 2004. Nearly everything has been rebuilt and things are back to normal. But you realize as you drive around the island, that they are very cautious about another Tsunami happening. Based on the sign above, at least you know where to go in case another one does happen.

More Thailand

About six months ago(or maybe longer) when I started planning our honeymoon, I booked a day trip with SimbaSea Trips. It's basically an all day boat tour that goes to different places depending on the time of the year. You do some sightseeing, some snorkeling, and just relaxing. Because we are technically in the rainy season right now(although we have yet to see rain), our day trip included a trip to James Bond Island where they filmed Man With The Golden Gun. At least I think that's what it's called. I've never seen any old James Bond movies although Roger Moore was on the same plane as me one time when I flew from London to Nice, France. Anyway, the trip was great. A car picked us up at our hotel at 8 in the morning, drove us to the Phuket Marina where we met up with everyone else and by 9 a.m., we were off. There were 11 of us total plus the captain, his helper, Geoffrey(he owns SimbaSea Trips), and Matt, Geoffrey's bro-in-law. Beth and I were the only Americans surrounded by a bunch of Aussies, but it was a lot of fun. We went swimming and canoeing into some of the little caves. We even stopped for lunch at this Muslim town built on the water. It was very different and interesting. Below are some pics of our day trip:

We ended up making it back to our hotel around 5:30 p.m. after our day long excursion. We were both pretty tired so we decided just to take it easy and go check out a restaurant close to our hotel for dinner. I had found a little place basically next door to our hotel called Surin Bay Inn and we decided to check it out. We got drinks, two appetizers, entrees, and dessert for $30. Not bad I would say. Below is a pic of our dessert:
