It's been crazy watching the transition of our house going from just a piece of land with dirt on it, to a big concrete slab, to an actual house. We are doing one of our final walk-throughs this weekend and are scheduled to close the week of March 10th. We have to close by March 13th because that's when our rate lock expires. We decided back in February to go ahead and lock in our rate and after speaking to our loan officer yesterday, we made a great decision. She told me that had we not locked in when we did, our rate now would probably be at least half a point higher if not worse. It seems interest rates are still low right now, but have gradually been going up in the past three weeks or so.

We are officially back working with Sweet Leaf Tea again. It's been a while since we've done anything with them. Actually, it's been over three months. But Beth and I are working at a Farmer's Market in Midtown Houston on Saturday morning just for a couple of hours. There are a lot of other events coming up soon as well so I'm sure we'll be keeping busy on the weekends.

Nothing else too exciting going on with us lately. Just ready for the weekend so we can do a little relaxing.

A New Name

One of my best friends, Sarah, got me these note cards for my birthday. They have my new name on them! It was so weird to see my name with Tony's last name. It was the first time that I'd seen it together...I'm not one of those girls that practices their new name. I can't use them yet, but I can't wait to use them for the first time when it's official!

After our ten mile run yesterday, we decided to go by and check out the house. Things are getting closer and closer to being done everyday. The carpet was in as well as all of the walls being painted. It seems like all that's left now is just the little things that need touching up around the house. Check out the pics below:

Almost There!

Beth and I made our weekly trek by the house today and it was looking great. They laid the sod today as well as put up our back fence. On the inside, a lot of progress has been made as well. Check out the pics below:

Another Birthday

I am officially 25 now that the birthday has come and gone! I had a good day yesterday and thanks to all the family & friends that called my on my birthday. I got to spend the majority of my day with the good old sixth graders. They were all pumped up about my birthday. My school announces birthdays on the morning announcements so as soon as they heard it was mine, they broke out in cheers and tons of questions. They all wanted to know how old I was, what I was doing for my birthday, if I was having a good day, when I was born, etc. Oh and two of my classes wanted to sing happy birthday! It was pretty funny, but cute that they cared. They all had their guesses of how old I was and when I told them 25, they all start yelling I knew it or you're young or REALLY?? So it was quite the day with them to say the least. The group of teachers I eat lunch with got me a card and birthday cake. I thought that was really nice of them and wasn't expecting it.

Tony sent some really cute pink and orange flowers to school. I was not expecting that and was very excited about getting them! They are a mix of flowers - big roses, little garden roses, lilys, carnations, and some other type of flower that I don't know the name of. Tony did take me out to dinner. We went to PF Chang's for some good lettuce wraps, crispy honey chicken, and spicy chicken. He also got me a pair of pants that I had been wanting from JCrew and a striped tank top. Then in true Tony and Beth fashion we spent the rest of the night after dinner watching TV. We have certain shows we like to watch and American Idol and Big Brother were on. Ok, we're boring! We had cake and ice cream for dessert too. I can't wait to go out to dinner with my parents on Friday when my Dad comes home. I get to have a double birthday dinner since he was gone this week.

Overall, I had a good birthday though. Nothing too exciting, but it was nice for Tony and I to go out to dinner and just relax after work.

**Stay tuned because we just went by our house today and Tony will put some pictures up soon.

This Past Weekend

The weekend has come and gone and overall it was pretty good. Friday night was uneventful as Beth and I went out to dinner to one of our normal places, Willie's Icehouse. It's a chain in Houston that serves burgers, fries, and the best onion rings around.

Saturday was a little out of the ordinary, but we had a really good time. The day started with us going out to our house with Beth's parents to meet with the new sales guy for our neighborhood. Our lady who was out there up and quit without telling us. We really liked her too and couldn't believe she didn't at least tell us she had quit. Oh well, it's life I guess. After that, Beth and I went to College Station with her parents to meet up with Beth's sister Janet. We ended up at Hurricane Harry's which is a country western dance hall. We were sportin' our cowboy boots and had a good 'ole time two-steppin all night long. We even managed to get Dale(Beth's Dad) out on the dance floor. And I must say from personal experience, that Carol(Beth's Mom) is quite the dancer!! She even dragged me out on the dance floor for one song. We didn't leave College Station til almost 1 a.m. and didn't make it back to The Woodlands til 2:30 a.m. Needless to say, it was a late night but a lot of fun. Check out the pics below:

Beth and I went by the house yesterday to meet with a tile guy. We plan on tiling a few other areas of the house after we close since the builder was going to charge us an outrageous amount for them to do it. The tile guy we met with was great and we went ahead and hired him for the job. When we pulled up to the house, we couldn't really tell much of a difference from three days before. As we got closer, we realized that they had put on the final coat of paint on the outside. And then as we walked toward the front door we realized we weren't going to be able to get in through the front door or even the garage door. They had laid the tile for our entry way and also our utility room and it wasn't ready for us to walk on. So we walked around the house, through the mud, and in the back door. As we walked in, we realized that a lot had changed on the inside. All of the walls had been primered, all of the trim had been painted, and also all of the interior doors. Things were looking great! Below are some pics:

The Valentine's Dilemma

Here we are again. Two days before Valentine's Day. And that age old question pops up like it does every year around this time. What are we gonna do on Valentine's Day? Great question. Wish I had an answer. I mean really, what are your options? Candlelight dinner? A dozen roses? A bottle of wine? Which one of those things is really going to show Beth how much I love her?

What makes it even harder is Beth's birthday is next week. So do I go all out for Valentine's Day and scale back for her birthday. Or do I let Valentine's Day slide and bring it for her birthday. Who knows.

Last year we made dinner. Had some wine. Ate Valentine's candy. The year before that we ate Mexican food in Dallas. Drank margaritas. That was also my and Beth's first Valentine's together. Wow, is this really our third Valentine's Day together already? Time flies when you're having fun I guess.

So that brings us to Thursday. Two days away. What do we do? I guess I'll keep you posted.

A Typical Sunday for Beth

Grading

15 Miles Later

On Saturday Beth went with her Mom to start looking for "mother of the bride" dresses. And while they were gone, I decided to get my run in for the day. My initial plan was to run 10 miles, but as I started going and began enjoying the day, I decided to go for 15 miles. It had been a while since I had run 15 miles. In fact, I can't even remember the last time. Maybe a couple of years or so. But I decided I would go for it and was kind of curious if I was up for the challenge. That's one of the things I really love about running. It's you against yourself on a daily basis. Always trying to get better and accomplish something. Sometimes you're fighting for a faster time, or maybe a longer distance. And sometimes you're just fighting to finish at all.

People wonder what's so great about running. I mean, it is only running. Everyone can do that right? You would think so. But it's not that simple. I would challenge anyone who doesn't run and thinks it's not that big of a deal to just go run a mile. Your perspective might change. Running is a great sport and one of the purest sports there is. Before there was football, basketball, or soccer, there were people running.

I followed up yesterday's run with a 10 mile run today with Beth. It was a little bit hotter and quite a bit harder, but we got it done.

Other than running, this weekend was pretty good. We went out for Carol's(Beth's Mom) 30th bday on Saturday night and had a really good time. We went to Tommy Bahama in Market Street in The Woodlands. I had never been there before and was pretty dang impressed with the food.

Today we went by the house to show Janet(Beth's sister) and Dale(Beth's Dad) since they hadn't seen it in a long time. They had updated stuff since just the other day when we were there. The ceilings were textured, the baseboards were in, as well as the crown moulding in our bedroom and also the cabinets in the kitchen and the bathrooms. Oh yeah and they also poured the concrete for the driveway. Not too much longer. And we can't wait!!!

Dresses

My wedding dress came in this week! Yesterday, after work, my mom and I went to the bridal store so I could try on the dress and make sure it fit and all that good stuff. My mom and I were both a little worried that I wasn't going to like the dress because it had been so long since I had tried it on! Plus, I only tried it on once. But, no need to worry, I still like it. We picked out the veil yesterday too. Who knew it took almost 3 months to get a veil once you ordered it. I have to say that I'm pretty excited to finally see MY dress and know that it still looks good. Sorry, can't post any pictures because that would just ruin all the fun.

My mom is talking about going to shop for her dress today, which will be exciting too. I don't think she has an exact idea of what she wants, so it'll be fun to have her trying different things on. I think she just wants to see what she likes and what looks good so she has some time to think about it. She has to look good too, you know!

Dessert!!!!

Carol(Beth's Mom) was nice enough to bring dessert over to us tonight. How does chocolate mousse, whipped cream, devil's food cake, and toffee pieces sound? Well if it sounds good, it tasted even better!!!!!

House as of Yesterday

Welp, we now have a garage door, and dry wall in the house. Things are looking good and we even noticed six more houses that they have started on our block. Luckily our house is somewhat away from the six houses they've started.

Lately

Welp, it's been a while since we last posted anything of substance so I'll try to fill you in with what's been going on in the exciting lives of Beth and Tony. Now that I think of it, not much. We had a great Super Bowl Sunday with great food and a great game to watch. Our menu included chicken empanadas, queso, cheese sticks, homemade guacamole, salsa, and Heineken to name a few things. I mean hey, it's the Super Bowl, what do you expect? Since we had each run about 25 miles between Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, neither one of us felt too bad about consuming any of our Super Bowl goodies.

We got an email yesterday telling us that our house should be done by the end of February which would put our closing date somewhere around the first couple weeks of March. This would be perfect timing as Beth has spring break the third week of March and it would give her some extra time to work on stuff with the house. Today is our day that we go out and check the progress of the house, so hopefully we'll have some new pics up soon.

This weekend we are meeting with our wedding coordinator to discuss our reception. And before you go thinking that we must be big time because we have a wedding coordinator, think again. It's basically just someone that is assigned to us by the Marriott to personally help coordinate our wedding. Where we are having our reception is a big place and they can't just have one person handle all the weddings.

In other news, the honeymoon has been booked. Although Beth knows somewhat where we are going, she doesn't know where we are staying or what we are doing. So hopefully she'll be pleasantly surprised with everything that's been chosen.

Super Tuesday was yesterday and in my humble opinion, it was super boring. I just think it's crazy that in a country of over 300 million people, this is the best group of five people we can come up with. Not only that, but we've had either a Bush or a Clinton in the White House since 1989. So you're telling me that there's only been two families in America in past 20 years that are qualified to represent our great country as President. Doubtful. Again, in my humble opinion. Oh well, we'll see what happens.

That's about it from here. Please keep voting for Stacy as much as possible. Voting ends Friday for this round and Stacy currently has 55% of the vote. Rock the Vote for Stacy!!!!

Vote for Stacy!!

We got word from Stacy's golf coach that a local radio station is doing a "March Madness" type bracket to find the Best Razorback in History. Stacy's nominated and she's the only girl on the whole bracket! She's up against Frank Broyles who is the long time athletic director and football coach. He's going to be a hard one to beat, but we are going to try! Click Here and go vote for Stacy because she needs all the votes she can get to win the first round. Hurry, you only have until Friday!
