Ms. Lewis is Here

I officially saw my first little 6th graders today! My school has a "camp" where the 6th graders come and spend 5 minutes in each of their classes to get their schedule down and figure out the classes they are going to and where they are located in the building. About half of each of my classes showed up, but I was just excited to actually see them. The past week has been all about in-service and all these other meetings and I'm just ready to get started already.

I have to admit I was pretty nervous when those kids were sitting under Ms. Lewis's name and I hear them saying "I'm looking for Ms. Lewis." So fun! They are so little, but I'm sure by the end of the year they will all have grown a ton and will be too cool. But for now, they are the newbies to the school and are anxious about being in middle school. Hmm...sounds like how I've been feeling too. I think I can relate, this year at least.

All I had to do today was present a PowerPoint show about the school and where things are, key people, etc. I have always done presentations to adults or my teachers, so it was a different feeling being the teacher and talking to young kids. I don't think it will take long for me to get used to it though. By my 3rd class I was already feeling much more confident. I can't wait for Monday to see the rest of them!

Yayyy! I just found out that I'll be teaching in middle school too and will probably have 6th graders- one of my favorite classes!
